报告摘要
Textile Engineering and Materials (TEAM) Research Group at De Montfort University in UK has extensively involved in the research of natural fibre materials, development of biotechnology for the textile wet processes and functional finishing to enhance fibre properties and fabric performance. The current research from TEAM Research Group has been developing alternative wool finishing processes. Enzymatic modification of wool fibres using native or modified proteases incorporated with extracted wool polypeptides has demonstrated an improvement of fabric shrink-resistance. Application of enzyme processes can also achieve fabric surface patterning effects. Sol-gel polymer coating has been applied to wool fabrics for enhancing their performance and functionality. The combination of enzymatic processing and sol-gel hybrid polymer surface coating has the potential for knitted wool fabric to achieve combined shrink-resist, hydrophobic and antibacterial properties with light-weight and soft-handle.
报告人简介
Jinsong Shen is Professor of Textile Chemistry and Biotechnology at the School of Design, and Director of Textile Engineering And Materials (TEAM) Research Group at De Montfort University in the UK. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in textile chemistry from Donghua University and a PhD in protein chemistry from the University of Leeds. While at the University of Leeds, Jinsong conducted the fundamental research to understand the protein structure of wool fibre. Since joining TEAM research group in 1994, Professor Shen has extensively involved in the research of wool protein fibres, development of biotechnology for the textile wet processes and functional finishing to enhance fibre properties and fabric performance. Professor Shen has been involved in a number of European Framework collaborative projects and UK research councils funded projects. Professor Shen has also contributed book chapters to the books: “Advanced in Wool Technology”, “Advances in Textile Biotechnology” and the recent “Sustainable Apparel” to be published by Woodhead publishing. His current interests lie in the areas of textile biotechnology, sol-gel technology, nanotechnology, antimicrobial finishing and flame retardant technology, and their applications leading to the development of protective garments, multifunctional materials and healthcare textiles.
