主讲人简介：Keyuan Jiang, Ph.D., Professor of Computer Information Technology, Purdue University Calumet, U.S.A., holds B.Eng. in Computer from Southeast University, Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Shanghai JiaoTong University, and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, U.S.A. As a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society (CS) and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), Dr. Jiang has been actively involved in applying information technology to biomedicine. His research expands from bioinformatics, mining healthcare social media, and clinical research and healthcare information technology. Dr. Jiang has published in high-profile publications such as Bioinformatics, IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, Computer Science Lecture Notes, Computers in Biology and Medicine, and Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine. Dr. Jiang has served as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, and on Committees of the IEEE-EMBS International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics, the i-Society Conferences, and the International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing.

讲座摘要：随着信息技术的飞速发展和互联网的广泛普及，微博、在线交友、网上购物、产品评论等应用已经成为人们生活中不可或缺的一部分。由于互联网的开放性，人们可以随时随地通过互联网分享心情、经验、音乐和图片，在线社会媒体已经成为人们交互的主要平台。海量的、不断增加的社会媒体数据中蕴含了大量有商业价值和实际意义的信息，对该领域开展研究既具有重要理论价值，又具有广泛的应用价值，目前已经成为国内外学术界研究热点问题之一，在信息领域的多个顶级国际会议如IJCAI，SIGKDD，ICDM，AAAI，WWW都有专门的议题进行深入探讨。面对海量的、完整的大数据开展研究，挖掘技术和研究规模成为两大难以突破的难题。本讲座首先将对社会媒体挖掘进行概述，重点关注当前社会媒体数据和技术面临的挑战，然后讨论挖掘有价值和有趣知识的方法，接下来介绍基于社会媒体挖掘的应用，最后讲座将展望未来工作。
